Boat
FixiT Information
Over the decades I have
amassed literally tons of great boat "fix it" stuff and have just about
everything from A as in anchoring to
Z as in zincs, for commercial and
private vessels. Now it's way too much to post on this tiny website. Some I
have scanned into CD's, some of this information is in my library, and
some I have also found on numerous websites! Contact me
I'll send it to ya!
Batteries
The one below has descriptions of all kinds of boat batteries, wet
cell, gel cell, absorbed glass mat, NiCad. How they are built, how
they are charged, how they are discharged, the scientific and electrical
properties. Battery manufactures, alternator manufactures, inverter
manufactures, sellers, cost comparisons, etc., etc.
www.vonwentzel.net/Battery
This site has at least 20 pages with multiple hyperlinks to lots of
other sites. I believe the website had been done or is
being done while the boat is out cruising, so some photos of that
are in there to break up the technical dryness. Also, check my links
page; I have some commercial and private vessel regulatory
information links on there.
Also, some really great
examples of production boat wiring, done the wrong
way!

Are you back? So, lots of info huh? He's got some opinions in
there too, as you can see. I have lots of other battery information, like how
to install as per ABYC standards, U.S Coast Guard regulations for
commercial boats, the CFR 33 and 46, etc, etc., that's just batteries!
And of course, a
worldwide manufactures and dealer network site for every electronic gadget you
can install. Yes, all these items can increase value, somewhat, but
they sure make it easier. Captains Magellan and Cook took every possible new
gadget they could find! Before when we ran DR's in the fog, it was
run a little then turn off the engine and listen for breaking surf or
freighters and hold your breath, now you turn on the radar linked to your GPS
and sip coffee. Yes, I still have an $800 sextant, but it went obsolete
almost overnight, yippee. Those were the good old days? Go to the products page
here.

And a new to me
site, "Sail the net" at
http://www.sail-the-net.com/marine-electronics/marine-electronics-intro.html
If you're in need of sails or sail information try out the sail
calculator site. They list lots of builders and models.

If you are looking for something specific try this, nick-named the
"Mother of Maritime" websites, but you maybe on this one for days. Hundreds
of sites! Pick a category and go to it or ask me.
